Photography at its essence is light and time. This unique new work is approached
with the intention of capturing the meditative quality of an element we are all drawn to...the Water. To achieve the
look and feel I sought after, required a mix of old and new technology. The centuries old process of pinhole photography
gave the latitude of long exposures to emulate time and the saturation of color to evoke mood. Contemporary digital
photography and printing brings the ability to produce archival pigment prints on high quality papers. Creating the
Oceanic Experience Atlantic Series required selecting images from the collection of seascapes that I make daily.
I then print Open Edition 5x5, Limited Edition 24x24 and Gallery Edition 36x36 prints for each image on Hahnemule papers.
This photographic process combined with printing capability creates beautiful prints washed in color closely resembling paintings
or pastels. They cause the viewer to slow down and interpret what they see, sensing the realness of a photographic
image with the vastness of something far greater. The mastery of craft is evident in every element of this work and
ultimately creates captivating yet affordable fine art for the home or office.
